DEEP IN YOUR HEART
© Bob Wright
All those lonely nights you wept
For a secret that you kept
About the baby that you left
At seventeen
You knew the father was a fool
A boy you barely knew from school
You tried to do the thing
That you thought was the best
And the sun still came up this morning
That old car out in the yard refused to start
I’ve told you time and time again
This old world doesn’t end
When you hold someone
Deep in your heart
You were afraid to let me know
Afraid that I would turn and go
But now you understand
I’m not that kind of man
So tell me what you plan to do
‘Cause I’ll be standing here with you
and I’ll be here no matter how
the story ends
And the sun still came up this morning
That old car out in the yard refused to start
I’ve told you time and time again
This old world doesn’t end
When you hold someone
Deep in your heart

I GET A LOT OF THAT
© Bob Wright
Well I used to like to walk downtown
I had friends there all around
We’d shake and howdy and have ourselves a talk
But ever since she went away
Seems they don’t know what to say
Now all I do when I go out is walk
I get a lot of that ever since she left
Ever since she told me she had someone else
I’m getting sick of sayin’ she ain’t comin’ back
She’s getting’ her lovin’ and I get a lot of that
Now I know people mean the best but everything seems lie a test
And you never find out if you made the grade
My women friends all think I’m weird, dogs and children all run scared
My buddies tell me that I have it made
I get a lot of that ever since she left
Ever since she told me she had someone else
I’m getting sick of sayin’ she ain’t comin’ back
She’s getting’ her lovin’ and I get a lot of that
now I know all things have to end
but let me tell you one thing friend
you never know what someone else might do
they say one thing and mean another
call you dear till you discover
everybody else has heard them too.
I get a lot of that ever since she left
Ever since she told me she had someone else
I’m getting sick of sayin’ she ain’t comin’ back
She’s getting’ her lovin’ and I get a lot of that

I GOT TIME TO FIGURE SOME THINGS OUT
© Bob Wright
ain’t no message on the machine
and there’s nothing on tv
I’ve got time
To figure some things out
Ain’t nobody home ‘cause I called
And I’m out of ways to stall
I’ve got time
to figure some things out
well I guess I’ll try to figure why
I’m sittin’ here alone
When all my friends
Have someone else
Waiting for the at home
Ain’t no letters
Ain’t no notes
And today
Is kind of slow
I’ve got time
To figure some things out
well I guess I’ll try to figure why
I’m sittin’ here alone
When all my friends
Have someone else
Waiting for the at home

Bob Wright/ Harbortown New York, New York
He is a multi-instrumentalist, an award winning songwriter and Bob Wright songs are often mistaken for traditional songs because their immigrant roots run deep beneath the surface of America and back to the places they came from for nurturing and inspiration. They surface in a modern world, constructed with a modern sensibility and a comforting resonance with the past. ... more
